And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32

In the next several lessons, students will be introduced to reading at different speeds for different purposes. There are five types of reading:
1. Skimming: moving the eyes rapidly through the material for certain information and passing by other information that you don’t want.
2. Speed Reading: with high concentration, moving the eyes quite rapidly through material and getting most or all of what it says.
3. Normal Reading: slower than speed reading, but a regular pace.
4. Study: Used for material that is more difficult, taking time to look up words, to mark portions, to argue or agree or interact in other ways with the author.
5. Super slow reading: decoding phase where every word is pronounced carefully. Beginning readers are at this stage, but after they learn to decode, they should practice reading faster.

After completing the activities for Lessons 15-19, complete a Create and Share project: The following ideas may be considered:
- Ponder Ephesians 4:32. Choose a family member or pet that you can show kindness to. Practice kindness and write about your experience in your journal after one week of practice.
- Make up a story of kindness and dramatize or write it. Your story may be about kindness to people or kindness towards a pet.

Lesson XV: Before reading Lesson XV, give the children some speed reading practice by asking them to skim and look for the word Cincinnati. Next have them read rapidly and time them with a watch which keeps seconds. Have them answer the first three questions at the end of the lesson (these are fact questions which are answered in the story). · Find out how many words per minute they read by dividing the number of words (305) by the time. Express the time in decimals. For instance , one and one-half minutes is 1.5 minutes. Each five seconds is about .08 minutes. (Children may want to create a chart for their timings as the next several reading lessons will be timed). After the timed reading, read the selection again orally. Discuss the questions at the end.
