Many fears can be overcome when we take time to learn more about the situation. In the story of The Boy and the Bear you will read about the need to exercise prudent caution. Certainly there are real dangers that we need to be careful about. In the story about the ghosts, you will read about fear in something that wasn't real. After finding out the real reason something looked like a ghost, fears vanished.
The Little Letter Writer story shows us how letter writing can be a great form of communication.
After completing the activities for Lessons 34-36, complete a Create and Share project: The following ideas may be considered:

Grammar: Notice the two-word sentences in paragraphs 7 and 9. Each has a subject and a verb and nothing else, but that is enough to make them complete sentences. Short sentences make a story move faster and can be used effectively if not used too often.

Preparation for Lesson XLIII. Have you ever written a note or letter to someone? What would you do if you didn’t know how to write. Read Lesson XLIII. Discuss the questions at the end of the lesson. Writing: Teach proper letter form and have an actual purpose for the letter. Write to a friend or legislator, or send for free samples. Or write a chamber of commerce for study materials.
